The group chat summary
In this Babble Bootcamp session, speech therapist and mom Jocelyn Wood shared what early communication looks like from birth to age 3. She reassured parents about the wide range of “typical,” explained when to reach out for extra support, and offered simple, realistic ways to build language into daily life.
✨ What we covered
👶 Milestones from birth to 12 months
Newborns start absorbing language from day one. By 6 months, babies respond to sounds and begin early babbling. From 6 to 12 months, babbling becomes more complex and starts to sound like real “talking.”
🧒 Milestones from 1 to 3 years
From 1 to 2, kids build vocabulary, follow simple directions, and begin pointing and labeling. Jocelyn shared helpful benchmarks like 10 to 15 words by 18 months and around 100 by age 2.
